Semester At Sea

NSHSS and Semester at Sea (SAS) have partnered to offer members a unique study abroad opportunity and a great way to take advantage of membership beyond high school. Since 1963, the non-profit Institute for Shipboard Education has launched 100 Semester at Sea voyages, educated more than 50,000 students from 1,500 institutions, and traveled to more than 60 countries.

The SAS program is offering NSHSS members several outstanding ways to save...

  • Program registration fees are waived for all NSHSS members
  • An around-the world travel/study program scholarship for NSHSS members who have completed at least one semester of college (see the scholarship section for details on this amazing opportunity).

The fall program with SAS offers students 12 to 15 college credits through the University of Virginia. The 2011 tentative itinerary includes sailing Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Cadiz, Spain; Casablanca, Morocco; Takoradi, Ghana; Cape Town, South Africa; Chennai, India; Penang, Malaysia; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Hong Kong/Shanghai, China; Yokohama/Kobe, Japan; Hilo, Hawaii, USA; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; traverse the Panama Canal, and return to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
