Gear Up for Summer Programs Now

NSHSS seeks educational partners that offer valuable learning and adventure programs for our members. Be sure to check out these great summer opportunities. And don't forget trips with NSHSS to Australia and Ireland in Summer 2008.

Institute for International Sport

All NSHSS members receive an automatic nomination to participate in the famed World Scholar-Athlete Games (WSAG), heralded as the most unique sport and cultural event in the world. The 2006 Games, administered by the Institute, were held on the campus of The University of Rhode Island and in Newport, Rhode Island, from June 24 - July 2, 2006, and brought together more than 2,000 talented scholar-athletes and scholar-artists from over 160 countries, and all 50 U.S. states. Currently, NSHSS members are invited to participate in the U.S. Scholar-Athlete Games to be held June 28-July 5, 2008, at the University of Rhode Island. Please read your special invitation to the Games.

"The Scholar-Athlete Games is one of the most impressive and remarkable gatherings of young people I have ever witnessed."

- Rudy Giuliani
Keynote Speaker, 2003 US Scholar-Athlete Games

National Honors Convocation

National Honors Convocation (NHC), an NSHSS partner, has expanded its offerings this year adding to an already stellar line up. NHC will host summer programs in 2008 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Emerson College in Boston, and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

National Honors Convocation was founded by successful professionals in the fields of business, law, medicine, and television and film. These extraordinary individuals share a strong passion for their careers and a desire to help exceptional youth achieve similar goals. NHC offers the opportunity for honor students to participate in summer programs in these career fields or in leadership. Your membership in NSHSS pre-qualifies you academically for the NHC program of your choice, and NHC offers two scholarships exclusively for NSHSS members. NHC is proud to offer a comprehensive scholarship program for students who require financial aid to take advantage of this great opportunity.

National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS)

The National Society of High School Scholars and the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) have joined forces to encourage members of NSHSS to pursue leadership development. NOLS is the premier teacher of outdoor skills and leadership, offering courses in the world's most spectacular wilderness settings. NSHSS members receive an automatic $150 partial scholarship for NOLS summer courses as well as a program application fee waiver in recognition of the academic and leadership contributions they already make at their schools and in their communities. More information.

"Founded by Claes Nobel, the mission of the National Society of High School Scholars is to recognize academic excellence and to encourage members to apply their unique talents, vision, and potential for the betterment of themselves and the world. It's hard to imagine a better match for NOLS!"

--Bruce Palmer
NOLS marketing director
