Fall 2002 Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships

Laurel Angelica
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy
La Canada Flintridge, California

The committee was impressed not only with Laurel’s academic achievements, but her initiative and dedication to helping others.  After being deeply touched by a newspaper story of a child needing a bone marrow transplant, Laurel worked tirelessly to set up a blood/bone marrow drive that became a huge success and is now in its third year, leading to her selection for an Outstanding Youth Award from the American Red Cross.  Laurel is also passionate about dance and theater and has been received early acceptance to Princeton.

“Laurel is a winner, a determined, compassionate individual who is determined to make a difference in her world.”
