"We would like to tell you how much we enjoyed
the reception in Washington, D.C. Of course Washington
itself was great, but the highlight of the trip was
the NSHSS reception. It made our trip well worth it.
Mr. Nobel is an awesome man, and I myself was enthralled,
along with both my daughters. I am so glad that we were
able to attend. Once again thank you for the excitement
of a lifetime, and the valuable information."

NSHSS hosted a member event on September 30
at the Hilton Washington coinciding with the National
Scholarship Providers Association annual conference. Nearly 300
members and their families had the opportunity to meet one
another and Mr. Nobel, while hearing from some wonderful
speakers, including our educational partners, Presidential
Classroom; Projects Abroad; Habitat for Humanity; and NASA, and
our advisor board member Margaret Daniels Tyler, executive
director of the Gates Millennium Scholars Fund.
"How
wonderful to see so many students and parents come together to
meet and learn more about planning their futures."

NSHSS members were also invited to a
member event on October 3 on The Queen Mary, the historic ship
harbored at Long Beach, CA. where NSHSS participated in the
annual conference of the National Association for College
Admission Counseling. Members were allowed to tour the ship at
no charge (regularly admission is $20). Mr. Nobel presented an
NSHSS scholarship to Berkeley freshman Charlene Kemmerer and
introduced speakers from Presidential Classroom and Mr. Don
Banks, Executive Director of TZONE, and father of advisory board
member Tyra Banks. Over 350 members also heard from
authors Margo Bane Woodacre and her daughter Steffany Bane,
co-authors of "Doors Open From Both Sides," a guide to making
the challenging transition from high school to college.
"I
wanted to tell you how exciting the activity at the Queen Mary
was on Friday, October 3rd. I met so many wonderful people and
it was an honor to hear Mr. Nobel speak. I felt that that Queen
Mary event was very beneficial to my future success as a college
student. I look forward to attending the next NSHSS event!"
