Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Member Event hosted by Temple University

On Wednesday, March 22, 2006, the Temple University Honors Program hosted a member eveUniversity of Pennsylvania student and NSHSS Council Member, Garret Bruernt on campus for NSHSS members and Temple Honors students.  The program was introduced by Zachary Reichenbach, Academic Events Chair of the Temple University Honors Program and an NSHSS member. Advisory Board Chair Claes Nobel delivered the keynote address, focusing on the importance of making a difference in our local and global communities through positive change.  The audience also heard college tips from NSHSS Student Council membersNorthwestern University student and NSHSS Council Member, Andrew Thompson  Andrew Thompson of Northwestern University (left) and Garrett Bruer of the University of Pennsylvania (right).  Dr. Timm Rinehart, Associate Vice President of Enrollment, at Temple talked to the group, as did Dr. Ruth Ost, Director of the Temple Honors Program.  Dr. Rinehart announced  a new $1,000 NSHSS scholarship sponsored by Temple. Temple also hosted a reception following the event.  NSHSS staff and members visited the "Body Worlds" exhibit at the Ben Franklin Institute earlier in the day.

I just would like to say the event was great! I read a quote by Socrates that perfectly fits Mr. Nobel: "All souls are immortal, but the soul of the righteous man is immortal and divine". What exactly does this mean? Fundamentally this is saying those who help and make a change are remembered. Mr. Nobel gives his time, heart, motivation, and something for us to look up to, our future. Once again think you!

My wife and I were greatly impressed with the organization's professionalism and the quality of the students that were in attendance at the Temple event.  Everything was lovely. I was so excited to meet Mr. Nobel and have the opportunity to thank him publicly.  My daughter Rachel has been invited to become a member of NSHSS, and I am proud that she is taking advantage of this opportunity.
