Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships/National Scholar Awards

We are proud to present the Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships to inspire and reward top NSHSS members.  NSHSS members have the opportunity to compete for $5,000 scholarships to be awarded annually. Additionally, a number of applicants will be selected from this pool for $1,000 National Scholar Awards (there is no separate application for the National Scholar Awards).  Selection is based on the following criteria:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • School and extracurricular activities and awards
  • Community service
  • Educator recommendation
  • Personal statement

Eligibility

NSHSS high school juniors and seniors  may apply for the Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships. Juniors who apply and do not receive a scholarship may reapply for the scholarship as seniors. 
 
Important Information

The application for this scholarship will close March 15, 2013. Finalists will be selected for $5,000 Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships and for $1,000 National Scholar Awards.  The application is online in the member dashboard - you should log into the member dashboard with your email address and password.  You may reset your password or create a password if you do not have one.  Please review instructons before applying.

Once logged in, you should select the "apply for scholarships" tab on the left of the screen.  If you do not see the application, please contact information@nshss.org.

When you apply, the first step is to review your profile information and update anything necessary.  Before applying, please gather the required information:
 
  High school principal's name and email address
  Counselor's name and email address
  Resume with honors and awards, leadership activities, community services activities
  Personal statement describing how you would like to make a difference and how your college plans can help you on your journey.

The resume and statement may be entered, copied and pasted, or uploaded. (the following document types are accepted:  doc, docx, txt, rtf, pdf

You will also need to submit a transcript and educator recommendation letter via mail or email by March 15, 2013.  (these may be uploaded if they are available to you; otherwise, send separately).

You may save your profile information and exit and return to the application, but once you save the final application, it is closed for editing. 

All applicants will be notified via email about the results when they are finalized.  Winners will be notified via email and mail.  All scholarship funds are sent to the university of the student's choice.
