NSHSS Student Council 2007-08

We are pleased to introduce our Student Council members for the 2007-08 academic year. These outstanding college students give advice based on their own experiences and offer information on Society programs, scholarships, and activities throughout the upcoming year. Membership on the Student Council provides an important leadership opportunity beyond high school. Members graduating from high school in 2008 will be eligible to apply for next year's Council.  We are especially pleased to include a "senior council" of previous council members who are continuing to serve and provide advise to members as well as new council members. To contact a student council member, send your email message to studentcouncil@nshss.org and be sure to include the council member's name in the subject line of the email message.

Council Member

Patrick Lee

Yale University

Patrick Lee received a Griffith College Scholarship for NSHSS members to attend a university of their choice.  He was his class valedictorian and was selected as one of 20 students chosen national for USA Today's All-USA Academic First Team and also was named a Wendy's High School Heisman National Finalist.  Read Patrick's account of his Heisman Finalist experience in New York.

Patrick is the first generation in his family have been born in the U.S. and has developed a synthesis of his parents' cultural values and his own "new age" ones.  "I believe that I have a unique perspective that can help others in similar paths navigate the labyrinth of high school.. . . . I will be able to put the lessons I have learned to good use not as someone preaching the 'right' way to do things, but as an idealistic college freshman hoping to make a positive impact, even if it is one person and one email at a time."
