Our mission is simple: To inspire students to become a positive influence in the world. NSHSS understands that you have a great responsibility in guiding and preparing students to make wise choices about their futures.

We  accomplish this by recognizing students who excel academically and by providing valuable benefits that help students further their academic and leadership goals through scholarships and access to life changing study programs (summer study, study abroad, world-class academic and leadership programs), and saving our members on testing and educational services.  We encourage you to review the benefits offered to our members.

FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON UNIVERSITY OFFERS COLLEGE CLASSES TO NSHSS MEMBERS

Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), the largest independent university in New Jersey, is now offering NSHSS members a wide variety online classes for college credit this summer 2012 at substantially reduced rates. As an educator, you know that at every college in the country, a student's academic record is the most important part of their college application. NSHSS PARTNERSHIPS:
NACAC, SACAC, NAFSA & CASIE

NSHSS believes that teachers and couselor's are critical to furthering our mission.  NSHSS partners with the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and a number of their regional affiliates such as the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC).

We also have a strong commitment to international education and have established partnerships with key educational organizations who share that commitment. As a Global Associate Partner with NAFSA: Association of International Educators and CASIE (The Center for Advancement and Study of International Education), NSHSS is creating a global learning place for our student membership.

Sponsoring member events around the country, NSHSS often invites teachers and counselors to attend member events as a way of engaging them in the lives of our students through member recogniton, scholarship presentations and to hear thought leaders in the education industry.

NSHSS connects with counselors and other academics at a number of conferences such as the National Association for College Academic Counselors (NACAC), NAFSA, Association of International Educators and the European Association for International Educators (EAIE).

NSHSS enters into strategic partnerships with educational organizations that provide meaningful content and programming to our student members. We welcome input from teachers and counselors regarding programs that can provide such value to our members.

EDUCATORS OF DISTINCTION

NSHSS also recognizes the value of teachers through our Educators of Distinction Program. Currently, our student members have the opportunity to select one teacher who has made a positive impact on their lives during their high school career. The student may log in to complete a nomination form and submit it online.

We receive notification immediately that one of our student members has nominated one of their teachers, we contact the educator to let them know that one of their students recognized them as an NSHSS Educator of Distinction. All of our Educators of Distinction are invited to attend any NSHSS member event around the country.

Here is what our educators told us about their experience of being honored as an NSHSS Educator of Distinction:

"Thank you, the NSHSS and Mr. Nobel so much for a truly wonderful day yesterday [Scholar's Day]. It was such an honor receiving, not one, but two awards; I was overwhelmed to say the least. I will not soon forget the pride I felt when I walked up to get my plaque and check and certificate. Thank you again for the great honor of recognizing my work."

Julie Good

"I found the NSHSS group and the students and Mr. Nobel purposeful and proud to be learners and educators."

"Scholarship is a high ideal which I believe we should all strive to attain. I feel that it begins first in the family. As a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, I understand and believe in the importance of a family. My first family inspired me to pursue scholarship, and my family now supports lifelong scholarship immensely. Like your family (Mr. Nobel) we want to recognize and support the scholar in all of us.

Mary Alyce Knauff

"Time spent teaching is never lost. The highest compliment that a teacher can receive is knowing that a difference was made in the life of a student. Teaching is a profession of intrinistic rewards but to receive accolades such as this is always an honor. Thanks to the NSHSS and the Nobel family."

Barbara C. Hall

NSHSS: COLLEGE RESOURCE

NSHSS serves as a valuable resource for students in their transition from high school to college and beyond. Learn more here:

"I commend students, parents, teachers and other education professionals who research any organization before joining (especially when there is a membership fee). I too researched the NSHSS before nominating my first student over seven years ago. I find it distressing to read comments on the internet regarding the legitimacy of The National Society of High School Scholars. It is my goal to share our story in hopes of dispelling this notion."
