Summertime... and the Living is Busy: from Houston, to Harvard, to Oxford

Dear NSHSS Members,

NSHSS Chair Claes Nobel with Natasa Kovacevic at Harvard Member Event, 2005

I am so pleased to be part of our tremendous organization. As you begin a new academic term, I wish you the best of success. We have had an exciting year and look forward to a bright future for NSHSS and its members..

We asked our members to let us know about their summer activities and were overwhelmed by the response. So many of you have spent your free time in challenging academic programs, travel, and volunteer work, developing your body, mind, and spirit. So, in this issue of our "Scholar's Journal," we share some of our members' experiences. I hope these adventures and efforts inspire you and suggest ideas and opportunities for your future involvement.

We are also happy to share some advice about the new version of the SAT exam provided to us for our members by The College Board. Although many predicted the demise of the perfect score with the additional written portion, one of our members has already scored a perfect 2400 on the exam this Spring. I was fortunate to meet this young lady at a member event on the Harvard campus--Natasa Kovacevic, a 2005 Claes Nobel Academic Scholarship recipient.

Congratulations to Natasa and to all.

In Service to Earth and Humanity,

Claes Nobel
