NSHSS Participates in Scholarship Providers Conference

NSHSS Vice President Maudelle Driskell and Scholarship Program Manager Dr. Susan Thurman attended the annual conference of The National Scholarship Providers Association in Montreal, Quebec, October 27-29, 2004. The conference featured an exchange of information on topics critical to scholarship providers, ranging from financial aid information and college affordability to practical strategies for administering scholarships and addressing minority needs. Gates Millennium Scholars Executive Director and NSHSS Advisory Board Member Margaret Daniels Tyler presented information on unmet needs in the financial aid process, and FastWeb Director of Educational Research and NSHSS Advisory Board member Jean Danielson gave a presentation on empowering college-bound students through Internet research. NSHSS is proud to be an active member of NSPA.
Claes Nobel Addresses International Educators in Atlanta

NSHSS Staff members attended the Latin America Chief Administrators' Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, December 5-8, 2004, sponsored by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS). SACS accredits over 13,000 schools and school systems throughout the United States and overseas. NSHSS Chair Claes Nobel addressed the school administrators about his experiences with several Nobel Laureates, including Dr. Oscar Arias, former president of Costa Rica; Jimmy Carter; Mother Teresa; and the Dalai Lama. NSHSS Vice President Maudelle Driskell gave a power point presentation about NSHSS programs for attendees.
