Dear NSHSS Members,

Claes Nobel presents scholarship to NSHSS Student Council Member and Harvard freshman Katherine Van Schaik during 2004 Scholar's Day ceremony

As we progress into the twenty-first century, I wish you all a wonderful 2005. NSHSS is moving forward as well. The Society will exceed $100,000 in scholarship money in 2005. We have established new partnerships and programs to enhance your membership. To further help the critical cause of improved and accessible education, we are honoring outstanding teachers and schools through our Educator of Distinction and School of Distinction awards.

My vision for the NSHSS is that it assists you in your journey as you connect to the world you are entering. You are the future leaders of this world and are already stepping up to embrace your role. It is not surprising that our members are enthusiastically reaching out to help the recent tragedy-stricken tsunami victims, and I am particularly pleased to share with you a special initiative begun my member Patricia Duncan, of Norfolk, Virginia. Please read her article to discover what she is doing in her school and community.

The future is yours. I know that you will meet it with intelligence, diligence, and passion.

In service to earth and humanity,
Claes Nobel
Chairman
