New Partner--My College Guide

NSHSS recently formed a partnership with the publisher of My College Guide, a publication geared toward high-ability, college-bound high school students who have just begun their college search. The publishers will provide members of NSHSS with a free copy, either in a print or electronic format, of its next edition. Members can begin their college search now by exploring the My College Guide web site at www.mycollegeguide.org and by requesting FREE college information online at: www.mycollegeguide.org/request. The publication offers plenty of useful advice including senior pitfalls, college advice from admissions professionals, and planning for all aspects of college life.

Presidential Classroom Scholarship Recipient Announcement

We wish to congratulation NSHSS member Christopher Riley, of Cordele, Georgia, on his selection as the 2004 recipient of the Presidential Classroom Public Service Scholarship for NSHSS Members. Christopher attended the Science Technology and Public Service program in June 2004. He was selected for his community leadership activities and demonstrated potential for taking advantage of his Presidential Classroom experience. The Hon. Jack W. Buechner, President & CEO of Presidential Classroom, said of Christopher, "It is clear that he is a young man who, given the opportunity, will rise fast and far." Christopher is a home-schooled student who will graduate in 2005 from the J.M.H. Academy. NSHSS members who have attended a Presidential Classroom program in 2005 are eligible to apply for a $750 academic scholarship to the college of their choice. The deadline is August 1, 2005. People to People Student Ambassadors Program

The purpose of People to People International (PTPI) is to enhance international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian activities involving the exchange of ideas and experiences directly among people of different countries and diverse cultures. PTPI is dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural communication within each community, and across communities and nations. Tolerance and mutual understanding are central themes. While not a partisan or political institution, PTPI supports the basic values and goals of its founder, President Dwight D. Eisenhower. People to People is funding a tuition scholarship for an NSHSS member to attend a Future Leaders Summit summer program.
