Useful Tips  to fight examination stress

    .

    1.  Be regular in studies
Regular studying at home reduces the chances of stress in students.

    2.  Prepare timetable
Proper time management is essential to score good marks on the examination. Prepare all subjects well before the examination to avoid stress. Last minute preparation should be avoided.

    3.  Sleep
Sound sleep will reduce examination stress. Getting 6-8 hours of sleep will reduce your tiredness, and you will feel energetic.

    4.  Exercise
Exercise is one of the healthiest ways to keep body and mind fit.. Students can work exercise easily into their schedules by doing yoga, walking or biking to campus, or reviewing for tests with a friend while walking on a treadmill.

    5.  Sports
Take part in sports. After some hours of study, sports can be a great way to relieve stress.

    6.  ECA
Taking part in extra-curricular activities for a few time can be a good way to beat stress.

    7.  Listening to Music
A convenient stress reliever that has also shown many cognitive benefits, music can help you to relieve stress and either calm yourself down or stimulate your mind. Students can harness the benefits of music playing classical music while studying, playing upbeat music to ‘wake up’ mentally, or relaxing with the help of their favorite slow melodies.

    8.  Self Hypnosis
Students often find themselves ‘getting very sleepy.’ Self-hypnosis can be an effective stress management tool and a power productivity tool as well. With it, you can help yourself release tension from your body and stress from your mind.

    9.  Be Positive
Did you know that optimists actually experience better circumstances, in part, because their way of thinking helps to create better circumstances in their lives? It’s true! The habit of positive thinking can bring better health, better relationships, and, yes, better grades.

    10. Talking to a friend
After studying for a few hours, talking to a friend, colleague, or family member is the best way to beat stress.

    11. Walking
While preparing for exams, go for a walk in the fresh air to relieve stress.

    12. Pace Yourself
During examination days, long hours of studying should be avoided. Instead, pace yourself to avoid fatigue.

    13. Drink adequate water and eat properly
Keep hydrated. Students should take adequate water to maintain body fluid during examination days to beat stress. You may not realize it, but your diet can either boost your brain power or sap you of mental energy! It takes virtually no extra time, and can keep you from experiencing diet-related mood swings, light-headedness and more.

  • Studying Abroad in... Sweden?

    Feb 28, 2012
From June 2010 to June 2011, I had the great pleasure of living and studying in the town of Lund, Sweden. Lund is a mid-sized town that thanks to its relatively mild climate and top-notch university, and probably the best English-language skills of Swedes, attracts a sizeable number of international students, totaling about 2,000 each academic year. I could be wrong, but I certainly haven't noticed that many international students at my home university. But in Lund, it's visible and audible.

The American Civil War historian Shelby Foote once noted, “A university is just a group of buildings gathered around a library.” After surviving my first semester at college, I have come to disagree with this eccentric statement. Witnessing a new chapter of my life, amidst a whirlwind of experiences at the University of Michigan, has transformed the small town Valedictorian high school student I was into a more responsible, appreciative, and open-minded individual over the past four months.
