National Society of High School Scholars

Monthly Update for August 2003

We hope you have enjoyed your summer and are looking forward to a brand new academic year.  We wanted to update you on the Society’s summer news and preview our fall activities.

NSHSS Advisory Board member and President of Scholarship America walks 400+ miles from Minneapolis to Chicago - NSHSS Members Participate in the Grand Finale.

Scott Jordan, NSHSS Director of Organizational Development, visited Chicago, and along with several NSHSS members, joined Dr. William Nelsen, president of Scholarship America, in the finale of his 400+ mile walk for scholarships. The NSHSS group joined many other local students, educators, business leaders, and politicians in congratulating Dr. Nelsen's accomplishments raising funds and awareness to help provide scholarships to deserving students. A press conference was held featuring students who have benefited from scholarships through Scholarship America and a lunch followed. The members in attendance had the opportunity to meet Dr. Nelsen, each other and Jean Danielson (NSHSS Advisory Board Member) and Baird Johnson from FastWeb. You can find out more about Dr. Nelsen's walk and Scholarship America by clicking here.
