Academic Scholarships: The 2006 deadlines for academic scholarships have now passed. New and
continuing members can fill out and update their scholarship applications in the member area of the
website until November 30, 2006 for 2007 scholarships. The application contains spaces for academic
awards, leadership activities, and community service activities. Finalists will be selected from these after
the deadline and contacted by mail for more information, including a personal statement, transcript, and
educator recommendation. The scholarship finalists for 2006 have already been contacted. Their
applications are being reviewed, and winners will be announced next month.
There are still some scholarships out there for graduating seniors - one of our favorites is the annual
Duct-Tape Prom Dress contest. This scholarship program has upped the ante this year to $6,000! Check

and get your creative juices going - this contest runs from March 6 - June 9. "Sponsored by Henkel Consumer Adhesives, Inc., the Duck® brand duct tape Stuck at Prom® Scholarship
Contest will reward students for their creativity and originality in creating or accessorizing prom
formalwear with duct tape. This year, the contest prizes have been increased, with the first place winners
now receiving a $3,000 college scholarship each - a total of $6,000 for the couple - and $3,000
for the high school hosting the winning couple's prom. The second place winners will each receive a
$2,000 college scholarship, with the high school receiving $2,000. The third place couple will each win a
$1,000 college scholarship, and the high school will receive $1,000."
