2006 World Scholar-Athlete Games - Final Call!
The National Society of High School Scholars has joined the United Nations as Official Partners in the 2006 World Scholar-Athlete Games. There are still limited spots available for NSHSS members only. If you truly wish to participate in this extraordinary event, which runs from June 24 to July 2 at the University of Rhode Island (coming up fast!), please visit the Games website at www.internationalsport.com/sa2006. After your review of the website, if you are fully committed to attend, please send an email to: iis102@etal.uri.edu with the following wording: "I (your name) am very interested in participating in the 2006 World Scholar-Athlete Games in the activity of (list the sport or cultural activity of your preference). You may reach me by calling (list your phone number with area code)" Upon receipt of your email, a member of the Games staff will be in touch with you right away. We hope to have as many NSHSS scholars at the World Scholar-Athlete Games as possible.
New Partners Announce New Scholarships for NSHSS Students
Two new scholarships will be available in the fall for NSHSS members:
Griffith College, Dublin, Ireland, if offering three $1,000
scholarships for NSHSS students interested in global issues. Details
and application will be posted on the website this summer.
Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions is also offering $2,000 in
scholarships to NSHSS members. Details and application will be
posted on the website this summer.

The National Society of High School Scholars is happy to provide you with an online resource full of college
information. My College Guide, published annually and now available online, has information on almost
100 colleges! To access My College Guide online, go to www.mycollegeguide.org/nshss.
The new 2006 issue has articles on how to reduce stress when applying to colleges, studying abroad, and
taking the guesswork out of college admissions. Also, you'll find out why engineering is such a hot major
now. Best of all, you can request college information right online by going to:

Projects Abroad

Some of your fellow Society members will be going to places like Nepal to teach English and serve the
community there. NSHSS partner, Projects Abroad offers opportunities
to 'plug in' to ongoing projects. Volunteer programs operate in seventeen different countries around the
world. You join a program in operation, so the duration of your service is more flexible. Projects Abroad is
for everyone seventeen and over. Read about our 2006 NSHSS Projects Abroad Scholarship Winner Kristy
Gonyer. The 2007 Projects Abroad scholarship application is now available on our website -
deadline December 31, 2006.. NSHSS members, including those in college,
are eligible for special discounts and can apply for scholarships. For your member coupon, log in to the
member area. Be sure to print this out to submit it with your application.
