About me
I am an optimist. I believe if you keep smiling, good things will happen.

How I hope to make a difference in the world

My future
I hope to attend a major university to study communications and to attend law school to prepare for a career in public policy, journalism, and law.

Philosophy
"You will never enjoy the rainbow unless you endure the storm." I have found this to be so true in my own life. If I work hard, believe in myself, and never give up, I will reach my goals.

About me
I am a very diligent and grateful young lady. I truly believe that all I have achieved in life has been the fruit of my conscientiousness and hard work, and of course the result of the constant support of my parents and blessings of the Lord. Although I am very dedicated to education as my top priority at this point in my life, I also leave myself time to enjoy sports and extracurricular activities. I have participated on the varsity girls' tennis team for three years now, and I also enjoy playing soccer as a recreational sport. When not on the tennis court or the soccer field or at various school clubs, I find myself singing and composing music in the realm of rock, pop/pop rock, and country. My favorite artists range from Queen to Norah Jones to Brad Paisley. I also enjoy reading historical fiction and writing short stories. My favorite novels include The Physician by Noah Gordon and The Grail Quest Trilogy by Bernard Cornwell.

How I hope to make a difference
I have always dreamt of being able to reach out to even one single person during my lifetime and bringing them comfort and happiness through my future work as a physician. I truly believe that the duty of a physician is to not only aid those suffering from illness and prevent death, but to improve the quality of life even for the healthy individuals in the global community by research, example, and teaching. The word physician itself means a teacher, and I hope to be able to instruct others as to how they should lead a happy, healthy lifestyle. I also have a burning desire to work with Doctors Without Borders to bring relief to impoverished children in my native country of India.

My future
I just confirmed my enrollment to the Honors and Gemstone Program at the University of Maryland- College Park. I plan to major in biology and perhaps double major in psychology as part of my pre- medicine track. I also hope to be able to participate in South Asian culture clubs and a soccer club. Overall, I wish to prepare myself for medical school. After medical school, I would like to choose a particular specialty and become a full-fledged physician in that particular area. Though I am not as yet sure which branch of medicine to go into, I do find Obstetrics and Oncology very interesting.

Philosophy
My philosophy is to dwell not on the number of moments in life, but rather to realize the life in each moment. I truly believe in being open-minded, tolerant, and supportive of everyone and their ideas. I also live by the well-known quote my mother has drilled into my brain: "God helps those who help themselves."
