Claes Nobel School of Distinction Award to help devastated school
libraries
NSHSS is pleased to announce a special category of award this month in
our Claes Nobel School of Distinction selection. The NSHSS Foundation
is awarding $500.00 to the newly-formed Gulf Coast School Library
Recovery Initiative, sponsored by the Laura Bush Foundation for
America's Libraries. This recovery initiative has been established to
respond to those Gulf Coast school libraries which were damaged or
destroyed by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma in 2005. The funds
will help refurbish and re-establish affected libraries. We are pleased to
offer assistance for such a critical component of our country's schools
and applaud the hard work and efforts of all those working tirelessly to
help restore damaged schools and libraries. For more information, please
visit the website.
Claes Nobel School of Distinction awards are given by the NSHSS
Foundation, a non-profit arm which recognizes excellence in schools and
teaching. To nominate your school for consideration, please email Dr.
Susan Thurman at susan.thurman@nshss.org with an explanation
of why your school deserves this recognition. Be sure to include your
name and contact information, the school's name and city, and a link to
the school's website.
