Take Advantage of Summer Career and Leadership Programs with National Honors Convocation
National Honors Convocation (NHC), an NSHSS partner, has expanded its offerings this year adding to an already stellar line up. NHC will host summer programs in 2008 at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Emerson College in Boston, and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
National Honors Convocation was founded by successful professionals in the fields of business, law, medicine, and television and film. These extraordinary individuals share a strong passion for their careers and a desire to help exceptional youth achieve similar goals. NHC offers the opportunity for honor students to participate in summer programs in these career fields or in leadership. Your membership in NSHSS pre-qualifies you academically for the NHC program of your choice, and NHC offers two scholarships exclusively for NSHSS members. NHC is proud to offer a comprehensive scholarship program for students who require financial aid to take advantage of this great opportunity.
"NHC combines the best of the classroom with experiential learning" says Maudelle Driskell, NSHSS Vice President. “It is just that type of combination, using both the head and the hands, that leads to real learning, skill development, and retention. A number of members tell us how great their experiences were at NHC and how much they learned. NHC makes scholarships available to our members, and I am glad that our students are able to take advantage of opportunities like these.”
NSHSS Member Xavier Williams, of St. Petersburg, Florida, is an NHC medical program alumnus who has been offered an internship to return to NHC in the summer of 2008. Xavier was a standout student from the beginning. Here is what he had to say about the program: "This was an absolutely awesome program. I am so glad I took advantage of this opportunity. It opened my eyes to the medical profession, and I am now more certain of my future in the medical field as an anesthesiologist!"
