NSHSS Welcomes International Member Nara Lee to the U.S. and Harvard University
Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, senior member of the family which established the Nobel Prizes, believes in the power of the youth to change the world. Mr. Nobel travels extensively, inspiring the youth to become ambassadors for peace in the United States and abroad. Mr. Nobel is passionate about congratulating and inviting our international scholars into our diverse family of aspiring leaders, and sends a special "Welcome" to our friends overseas!
Since our founding in 2002, NSHSS has expanded to encompass members in over 120 countries worldwide. Many international students are finding great value in membership with the Society. Student Council Representative Anya Rasulova, from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, remarks:
"Membership in NSHSS has given much to me. First of all, it is a great network of bright students like you! I was a Claes Nobel Academic Scholarship recipient in 2004, and I would like to thank NSHSS for that with all my heart! It made my dream of attending Brown University possible."

NSHSS is now launching a new membership campaign in Japan, meeting with top universities and high schools there. We are happy to highlight international member Nara Lee, a native of South Korea, who has just graduated from the American School in Japan, one of the most prestigious American schools in Japan. Nara will enroll in Harvard University in the fall.
Nara writes: “Due to my father's job as a Korean diplomat, I moved every two or three years and sometimes even changed schools during my short stay in a city. So perhaps it is natural that most people characterize my life as one full of instability and change. However, I believe the constant change of environment played a tremendous role in developing not only my linguistic skills but also my ability to adapt. Because I have attended international schools for most of my life--and as I have been involved in the Model United Nations program throughout high school--I am interested in international issues, especially those pertaining to the East Asia region since I have lived in Korea, China, and Japan. This upcoming fall I look forward to studying East Asian Studies and Government at Harvard.“

Ghana Native Naomi Adjei Honored as Class Valedictorian and National Mathematics Champion
NSHSS is also happy to highlight international member Naomi Adjei, who has recently graduated as the valedictorian of the Weequahic High School Class of 2007 in Newark, New Jersey. She is originally from Ghana, West Africa, and has only been in American for two years. Naomi also won the 2006 National Mathematics Champion title in Washington D.C., organized by the NAACP ACTSO Program, and the New Jersey State Championship in Biology and a bronze medal in Mathematics. She will attend Cornell University in the fall of 2007, majoring in the biological sciences. She aspires to be a surgeon.
