Earn College Credit through Presidential Classroom’s Exciting “Mobile Classroom”

What do the King of Jordan . . . Labor Secretary Elaine Chao . . . Ralph Nadar . . . Vice-President Dick Cheney, Los Angeles Times Pentagon correspondent Julian Barnes, and Buzz Aldrin, pioneer astronaut have in common? They have all recently spoken to and engaged in dialogue with a dynamic group of Presidential Classroom scholars at a week-long conference in our nation’s capital. Presidential Classroom offers senior high school students from across the country and around the world a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the complex, dynamic world of policy-making in Washington, D. C. Over 120,000 graduates of Presidential Classroom have made their experience a catalyst for success in the process of college application and selection of academic major.

Katie Cristol, a senior at the University of Virginia, said, “Presidential Classroom was the first time I felt that I could be an actor in public policy instead of just being on the receiving end. It opened my eyes to the fact that I could affect what was happening in the news. At every step since, I find myself well-served by the skills and self-confidence I learned at Presidential Classroom.”

Beginning on June 10, PC will offer a series of one-week conferences on law, science and technology, journalism, national security and politics and government. Students reside at the Georgetown University Conference Center. Credit for each program is available from the University of Virginia.

This summer the National Constitution Center and Presidential Classroom will hold a day-long forum at the Center to include visits to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.

NSHSS members are ideally suited for a Presidential Classroom conference because they demonstrate such commitment to academic achievement, leadership and global understanding. Our motto is “challenging the leaders of tomorrow” and NSHSS members truly represent those among the rising generation who will offer vision and solutions to the key issues facing our country and our world.

Each conference combines a unique set of activities, simulations, seminars, social events, site visits to conference-specific locations of interest and tours of historic monuments and museums. Only Presidential Classroom can claim a dedicated corps of volunteer instructors from the professional ranks of government service and academia who serve as teachers, mentors and guides. Each caucus of 40 students enjoys the benefits of a mobile “classroom” that takes advantage of the opportunities for advanced learning, interaction and teamwork provided by a supportive, pre-collegiate setting.

NSHSS members receive a special tuition discount of $100 on a Presidential Classroom program. For more information on programs and fundraising, visit the Presidential Classroom website or call Charmaine Petherick, Director of Admissions at (800) 441-6533. You can download an application for NSHSS members on the website.
