Congratulations to Jeremy Yamaguchi, senior at El Dorado High School, who was recently named by his city of Placentia, California, as its youngest ever “Citizen of the Year” at age 17. He was selected for this award by the Placentia Chamber of Commerce for his outstanding community service. For his Eagle Scout Service Project, he raised $3,000 for emergency supplies for his local middle school, and he works diligently in his community, helping to find funding for service projects. He encourages young people not only to volunteer themselves, but also to get other people to volunteer: “When you volunteer, you are helping . . . but when you get other people to volunteer as well you are really making a difference in the world.”
Jeremy is also a recipient of the Virgil Award, the highest honor for a Boy Scout Order of the Arrow member.
