NSHSS Chairman Claes Nobel and headquarters staff recently attended the annual conference of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) in Austin, Texas, representing the Society to high school counselors and college admissions officers. These colleges are very excited about the quality of our student members, and are interested in further discussions about collaborating with NSHSS to provide more resources about the college admissions process to our students and families.
On behalf of the NSHSS staff, we constantly strive to add value to your student membership and we are excited about the new opportunities gained at NACAC. We look forward to giving you more updates after next year’s conference in Seattle, Washington.

National Scholarship Providers Association Conference
Portland, Maine
October 3-5
NSHSS is a member of the The National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA) and participated in the annual conference of in Portland, Maine, October 3-5, 2007; the conference featured an exchange of information on topics critical to scholarship providers, ranging from financial aid information and college affordability to practical strategies for administering scholarships and addressing minority needs. The mission of NSPA is to advance the collective impact of scholarships by informing policy, and to provide opportunities for professional development and the exchange of best practices among scholarship providers.
The NSPA conference also provides a great opportunity to discover more resources for our members, and one of the best places that college-bound students and their parents should check out is SPIDO, the State Policy Issues Database Online, sponsored by the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education: http://www.wiche.edu/policy/spido/search_states.asp. You can search this database by state for critical information on student financial aid, tuition and fees, residency requirements, and other relevant policies regarding colleges in your particular state. We think you will find it quite useful.
