Alex Wells Excels as Record-setting Soccer Goalkeeper in State Championship
NSHSS member Alex Wells, a senior at Vestal High School in Vestal, New York, and the Varsity Golden Bears Soccer Team competed successfully in the 2007 Class AA New York State Championship playoff series. His team won the final against tough competition from Webster, New York (near Rochester). The four-game play-off, including the championship, was played in November 2007, at the National Soccer Hall of Fame located in Oneonta, New York. Alex, a scholar-athlete, is a three-year varsity goal keeper with a record-setting 30 shut-outs, and the Golden Bears enjoyed a three-year team record of 53-6-6. Alex will be graduating this year and plans to continue his education as an engineering major at Broome Community College, a school of the SUNY system, located in Binghamton, New York.
