Renfei Tu selected as Florida delegate to National Youth Science Camp
Renfei Tu, a student in the International Baccalaureate Program at Vanguard High School in Ocala, Florida, has been selected by the Florida Department of Education to represent Florida as a delegate to the 2008 National Youth Science Camp (NYSC). Highly selective, the program is "a residential math and science education program that honors and challenges the two most promising high school math and science students from each state in the U.S." The camp provides a great opportunity for students to add a new dimension to their science and math knowledge base. It offers an intense residential science education program for young scientists the summer after they graduate from high school and is funded by the National Youth Science Foundation, which provides an expense-paid program for the delegates.
Renfei was also recently named Marion County’s Sunshine State Scholar, awarded by Florida counties to their top academic performer. As well as winning IB awards in math, science, and history, he is also captain of the Academic Team, a member of the school golf team, a member of the Chess Club, and serves as editor of the IB Graffiti newsletter.
