The National Society of High School Scholars recently introduced itself to The Russell Group, a group of 20 major research-intensive universities of the United Kingdom, in Liverpool, England, home of the Beatles.

University Relations Director Yun Mi Yi met with over 20 individuals from various universities in England to share the mission of The Society and to increase and maximize study abroad opportunities for students.
“After reviewing and assessing the study abroad student survey results from last spring, we wanted to move forward and be proactive about extending opportunities to study abroad in England,” says Yun Mi Yi, Director of University Relations.
In a member survey last spring, students expressed a strong interest in studying abroad, and an overwhelming 46 percent said their first destination of interest would be England, which topped all other locations followed by Italy, France, Australia, and Spain.

NSHSS met with and held private meetings with The University of Liverpool, University College London, University of Edinburgh, University of Bristol, and Cambridge. Efforts are currently being planned to connect scholars with a unique opportunity to study abroad, to attend a summer abroad, or take advantage of studying overseas for the full undergraduate program.
Aside from meeting and connecting with universities, we also had the privilege of visiting with Richard Brown, Chief Executive of the Council for Industry and Higher Education, in London. Brown has contributed to The Society in the past with information regarding job markets and qualities that employers around the world seek when looking for new talent. He offered strategic advice and insight into the higher education system of England to ensure greatest potential in opportunities for scholars to study abroad.
