Texas member Evan Holman to compete in World Bagpipe Championship in Scotland
Evan Holman, home-schooled rising senior from San Antonio, Texas, will compete in the World Bagpipe Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, in August 2008. Evan has been playing the pipes for 10 years and has received numerous awards and recognition for his skill and excellence as a pipe. Ken Liechti, the Pipe Major for Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums of Austin, Texas, invited Evan to compete with the band at the championships. Evan practices with the band twice each week in preparation for the competition.
Evan is also the Pipe Major for the Home School Highlanders, a pipe band consisting of home school families. Evan holds group lessons for the band and also teaches private lessons in his home; his students have won several solo awards.
