New Jersey member Sarah Lutes selected for Drexel University scholarship


Sarah Lutes, from Edison High School, New Jersey, has confirmed her offer of acceptance to Drexel University, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she will be attending the College of Arts & Sciences majoring in Biological Science. Sarah has been named as a Dean’s Scholar and was awarded an annual Drexel scholarship based on her academic achievements.

Sarah has maintained A-B Honor roll throughout her high school career and has also been awarded scholarships from the Visual Arts Department and the Parent Advisory Council at Edison High. Sarah is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Science Honor Society and President of the National Art Honor Society at Edison High School. In 2007, she received Summa Cum Laude in the Latin National Examination and her Latin class. Sarah has also been involved in athletics receiving her Varsity Letter for Spring Track & Field in 2007.

Sarah is actively involved in volunteer work, dedicating over 650 hours of her off school time as a member of the Edison First Aid Squad and is currently enrolled in an Emergency Medical Technician Course. Sarah’s other volunteer activities include Project Teddy and the National Art Honor Society, both at Edison High School. In addition, she has also volunteered at NSHSS member events.

Sarah’s past activities include a certificate of completion at the 2006 Lead America Congressional Student Leadership Conference at Fordham University, New York and 2007 Savannah College of Art & Design Summer Seminar, Savannah, Georgia.
