Ever since my childhood years, I have always yearned for education in the sciences and mathematics, and plan to pursue a career in engineering.
Before entering high school, I attended some summer courses at our local university, TAMIU, those courses were based in mathematics, abstract reasoning and problem solving skills. Being there in PREP (Pre-freshman Engineering Program), I knew about a new Magnet for Engineering and Technology in United High School. When I entered this new magnet, my life changed. Here, I learned more about Aerospace Engineering and other related careers which involve the study of flight, space and the universe.
Being part of this magnet, I had the opportunity to apply for High School Aerospace Scholar at NASA in which I was accepted. This experience will provide me with a better understanding of the Aerospace Engineering environment. Also, I will be furthering my skills and talents as well as it being a program which will get me closer to my goal in engineering.
My academic and career goals after high school includes going to a 4-year college or university, pursuing on to study mainly in the aerospace science field. During college I plan to work towards my master degree in aerospace engineering, and after, study for my doctorate degree in astronomy. Once in college pursuing my career in the aerospace science field, I also plan to go through ROTC or some other officer school and join the Air Force. I will also apply for the Astronaut Selection Process at NASA.
Completing my goals, I think I can make a difference in the world by contributing with my research and knowledge to a better understanding of the universe.
