Major League Baseball invited NSHSS high school and college members with an eye on their future career to take advantage of the opportunity to meet with Human Resource representatives from all 30 MLB Clubs, the Minor League, and other MLB networks at their MLB Diversity Summit. Attendees even met some of the League’s prestigious owners.
Ten NSHSS high school and college scholars were awarded a scholarship that included the registration fee and a guaranteed interview at the 2014 Diversity Summit. NSHSS scholar Robert Gorney, a senior at Howell High School in New Jersey, said, “Hearing Yankees Senior Vice President and General Manager Brian Cashman, talking to the Chicago Cubs, and meeting representatives from the farm teams was a great experience.”
Baseball hosts 2,500 live events annually. From information technology to television production to baseball operations, a career in baseball offers a unique and challenging career path in one of the most exciting and competitive industries.
"NSHSS provided an opportunity for my son to attend the 2014 MLB Diversity conference in New York. This conference was a great opportunity for my son to network with executives from around Major League Baseball and their affiliates. The one on one interviews set up by NSHSS were incredible growth opportunities for him. I am thankful to NSHSS for providing this opportunity,” said Bob Gorney, NSHSS parent.
