But with the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), students have access to a number of rewarding scholarships from many different partnering organizations.

While NSHSS offers scholarships for various grade levels from high school freshman to college students, this post is dedicated to distilling a list of scholarships for high school juniors. For many high school juniors planning to attend college after graduation, it’s go time. Most college-bound students in their junior year are diligently exploring all possible avenues of financial aid.

With an NSHSS membership, you can have access to rewarding scholarships to help you pay for college as well as fund unique study abroad and educational programs. And unlike some private scholarships that can receive hundreds of thousands of applications, both the pool of competing students and the eligibility requirements are much more narrow, making NSHSS scholarships far more attainable. NSHSS List of Scholarships for High School Juniors

United Planet Merit Scholarships 2018

Deadline: Thursday, February 15, 2018

Eligibility: NSHSS members age 16 and older with parent approval of trip. NSHSS partner United Planet is an international non-profit organization, headquartered in Boston, devoted to building a global network of leaders and volunteers which fosters cross-cultural understanding and addresses shared global challenges through immersive international service, internships, and cross-cultural collaboration.

Scholarship Award: One full scholarship and five $500 partial scholarships. 10% discount off of any short-term (1-12 week) Quest or 5% discount off of any long-term (6+ month) Quest!

Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships 2018

Deadline: Thursday, March 01, 2018

Eligibility: High school junior and senior NSHSS members

Scholarship Award: $1,000-$5,000 scholarships. A minimum of 10 applicants will be selected for $5,000 Claes Nobel Academic Scholarships; 75 applicants will be selected for $1,000 National Scholar Awards. There is one application.

Robert Sheppard Leadership Awards 2018

Deadline: Thursday, March 15, 2018

Eligibility: High school sophomore, junior, and senior

Scholarship Award: One $2,500 scholarship for the first place winner and a $1,000 scholarship for the top four finalists who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to community service and initiative in volunteer activities.

NSHSS Native American Scholar Awards 2018

Deadline: Thursday, March 15, 2018

Eligibility: High school junior and senior NSHSS members who are Native American or Alaska Natives.

Scholarship Award: Three $1,000 scholarships for the freshman year of college

Johns Hopkins University Summer Scholarships 2018

Deadline: Friday, March 16, 2018

Eligibility: NSHSS members at least 16 years old for the Summer University Program and at least 15 years old for the Discover Hopkins Program.

Scholarship Award: Johns Hopkins will be providing one NSHSS member with a scholarship to attend their Pre-College summer session in 2018, and NSHSS students may also apply for additional need-based grants. The deadline for need-based grants is March 16, 2018.

Claes Nobel Entrepreneur Scholar Awards 2018

Deadline: Tuesday, May 01, 2018

Eligibility: High school junior and senior NSHSS members who have an idea for a product, service, business, or other innovation.

Scholarship Award: Five $1,000 scholarships

NSHSS Academic Paper Awards 2018

Deadline: Tuesday, May 01, 2018

Eligibility: All NSHSS high school members

Scholarship Award: Twenty-five $250 cash awards to recognize NSHSS members who have written academic papers as class assignments in high school, such as a research paper, an original essay, or an analytical paper.

Syracuse University Summer College 2018

Deadline: Tuesday, May 15, 2018

Eligibility: NSHSS high school members

Scholarship Award: Syracuse University Summer College will be providing a limited amount of partial scholarships ($500 towards a two-week program or $1500 towards a six-week program) to eligible NSHSS members on a first-come, first-serve basis.

George Washington Univ. Summer Non-Credit Classes 2018

Deadline: Tuesday, May 15, 2018

Eligibility: NSHSS high school members

Scholarship Award: Summer Immersion Programs (noncredit) GW will waive the application fee for NSHSS students interested in applying to Summer Immersion non-credit program courses. Students must indicate NSHSS on their application for consideration.
