Dan Pattarini is a career Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. In over 14 years of service, his overseas assignments include tours in Oman, Egypt, Iraq, and Luxembourg. Domestically he has worked for the Bureau of Consular Affairs and the Office of Foreign Missions. He has studied Arabic and French with the Department. Dan joined the State Department after attending graduate school and a period working as a secondary school history teacher and for an international educational non-profit. Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from American University. Within the Foreign Service, Dan is primarily focused on public diplomacy. He is currently assigned as an Outreach Officer in the USA Study Abroad branch inside the Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Born in New York, Dan has called Virginia home since he moved there as a child. He and his wife Katy have three children and a Labrador retriever.
Christopher Schwab has worked for the State Department for over 15 years, in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) Office of International Visitors, at the U.S. Embassy to East Timor, in the ECA Office of Citizen Exchanges where he managed the National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program for U.S. high school students to study abroad and led a division-wide effort to expand outreach to Americans on scholarship opportunities, and currently in the ECA Office of Alumni Affairs. Mr. Schwab has worked on several special initiatives such as the International Women of Courage Award and the Stevens Initiative and has received numerous State Department awards. Before joining the State Department, he spent six years at Meridian International Center — a DC based NGO, focusing on rule of law exchange projects.
Briana Olsen is a career Foreign Service Officer currently in DC working with UN agencies, including UNESCO and IAEA. Specializing in multilateralism, she has served as a regional refugee coordinator in Jerusalem, peacekeeping advisor at the U.S. Mission in NY, and will relocate to the U.S. Mission in Geneva to be a senior advisor on nuclear disarmament. Previous tour include political affairs in Tashkent, Stockholm, and Moscow. Briana holds a BA from the University of Washington, and an MA from both George Washington University and Stockholm University.
