NSHSS Student Exhibition

What are you doing to “Be More?” Showcase your work and your passions at the first NSHSS Student Exhibition during Scholar’s Day 2018 in Washington, D.C., and compete for a $2,500 award. NSHSS will review proposals and select top applicants to showcase at the Student Exhibition.

 

WHAT IS THE STUDENT EXHIBITION?

The Student Exhibition takes place on August 3rd and 4th, during NSHSS Scholar’s Day 2018 in Washington, D.C. Located alongside the College & Career Fair, in the Exhibit Hall, the Student Exhibition is a series of poster-board exhibits that showcase the passion projects of NSHSS Members. Each exhibit is focused on one of the following themes:

  1. STEM & Innovation
  2. Entrepreneurship & Leadership
  3. World Betterment (non-profit, social business, social innovation or social advocacy efforts)

With an audience of approximately 2,500 NSHSS members, families, educators and corporate leaders, this is a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on your work and expose others to the issues that mean the most to you.

STUDENT EXHIBITION HOURS

Student Exhibits are open to attendees during the following times.

  • Friday, August 3, 2018, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
  • Saturday, August 4, 2018, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

 

PRESENTATIONS & JUDGING

Presentations will take place on Friday, August 3, 2018, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Each exhibitor will have 5 minutes to present their display to three judges. The presenter should be available throughout the session for any follow-up questions.

 

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

 

AWARDS
The top 3 exhibitors from each category will be presented with a cash prize during the Member Recognition Ceremony on Saturday, August 4th.

  • First Place: $2,500
  • Second Place: $1,000
  • Third Place: $500

APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, JULY 27, 11:59 PM ET
All applicants will be informed of their selection status on August 1st.

 

HOW TO APPLY

Log in to your member dashboard, select "RSVP For Events" and complete the application for "NSHSS Student Exhibition." Applications are comprised of the following:

  • Proposal: Develop a response of approximately 250 words describing why you are seeking this opportunity to showcase your research, projects, community service, companies, etc. (Consider what you hope to gain from the experience? What will NSHSS members attending Scholar's Day gain from learning about your exhibit? Why is your exhibit important?)
  • Resumé: Include a resumé listing honors and awards, leadership activities, community service, and extracurricular activities. Please highlight activities relating to the category in which you are aiming to present an exhibit.
  • References: principal and counselor's name and email address
  • Photo: A color headshot suitable for possible website posting is required.
  • Optional: If applicable, please include any photos, articles, video links, and any other relevant material regarding your potential exhibit.

 

 

*Before you apply, please ensure that you will be able to abide by the following: Exhibitors must register to attend NSHSS Scholar's Day 2018 in Washington, D.C., on August 3rd and 4th. Each exhibitor must prepare a poster presentation (see presentation guidelines). Exhibitors are expected to dress business professional during the presentations on August 3rd.
