Description of Programmes 

International Symposium on STEM Education

The International Symposium on STEM Education 2018 aims at bringing 100 students around the globe to HKU for academic exchange. If you are interested in STEM or considering choosing STEM subjects as future university majors or future career field, we believe this Symposium would also be a wonderful chance for you to explore and further develop your interest and strength.

The Symposium this year will focus on the theme ‘Cities on the Move’. Cities around the world are consistently going through a transformation through the advancement of new technology in transportation, medical services, education, living environment, the design of urban space, etc. With the continued emphasis on technology, how does this trend thrive, influence and contribute to people’s lives, experiences, and resolve issues which we encounter nowadays? You will be grouped to work on a project to resolve current issues and incorporate VR technologies in the presentation.

Programme dates: June 22-24, 2018
Students should arrive in Hong Kong no later than 2pm on June 21 (HKT). Accommodations will be provided during June 21-24, 2018 in a residence hall.

Five USD $1,000 Scholarships which cover the programme fee and hall accommodation fee, for each of these programmes

*For applicants who apply for both programmes, the accommodation that the scholarship covers does NOT include 25-27 June nights. 

 

Decacorn Entrepreneur Bootcamp

Decacorn Entrepreneurship Bootcamp is an intensive 2-day programme which brings together young minds who are interested in innovation and business. The bootcamp is designed for high school students who want to learn about business and entrepreneurship. You will get a chance to learn and interact with successful entrepreneurs and business professionals. Leading business professionals will also mentor and guide you to create business ideas, develop and prepare the business proposal and enhance your pitching presentation skills, etc.

The bootcamp not only gives you a taste of creation of a business model but also provides a platform for you to compete, share knowledge and exchange ideas with like-minded students of diverse backgrounds.

Programme dates: June 29-30, 2018
