Mr. Nobel Awarded as SCIP Humanitarian of the Year

NSHSS is very proud to announce that NSHSS Co-Founder Claes Nobel was honored with the 2014 Humanitarian Award by the Selective Corporate Internship Program (SCIP). He received the award on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the SCIP 17th annual gala celebration, “An Evening with the Stars.”

SCIP, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was founded in 1997 by Monica and Miguel Mancebo to provide intensive, business environment training to talented inner city high school students from New York City and New Jersey. This intensive six week program incorporates training and professional development to a diverse group of highly motivated, goal oriented public high school students with an interest in entrepreneurship.

 

“This prestigious award means much to me and my esteemed colleagues of The National Society of High School Scholars. I am happy. I am grateful,” said Mr. Nobel in his acceptance speech.

During the gala celebration, Mr. Nobel and James Lewis inducted twenty-five high-achieving scholars participating in the SCIP program into the Society. Additional awards were presented to Rudolph Franklin “Rudy” Crew (President, Medgar Evers College and Former Chancellor of the New York City Board of Education); Mark Whalen (President, MJ Whalen Consulting LLC); New York Life; PGA of America; and JP Morgan Chase.
