NSHSS Hosts Member Event at the University of Miami

The National Society of High School Scholars recently held a member event at the University of Miami on November 2, 2013. During this event, more than 400 students, parents, and educators participated in recognition presentations and met representatives from the CIA, Florida International University, Fisk University, University of Queensland and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Maury Koffman, Esq. from the National Education Association, Executive Committee encouraged the students to stay committed to their academic endeavors and thanked the Educators of Distinction in attendance for shaping the next generation. Mr. Nobel, founder and Chairman of NSHSS spoke about the Seven Rights to living a happy and successful life and urged the members to become global citizens of the work and not rest on their laurels.  He also awarded a Stockholm University Nobel Week Scholarship to Katalina Gerasopoulou Pappa, a senior at Archimedean Upper Conservatory Charter School in Miami.  Katalina talked to the group about her experiences immigrating from Greece and the educational opportunities she has been exposed to in the U.S.  


Edward Loo, Diplomat in Residence with the U.S. Department of State encouraged civic engagement amongst the NSHSS members. He spoke about the Culture 2 Culture Foreign Exchange high school student program as well as his background as an immigrant. He ended his message letting them know anything is possible with hard work and dedication. The program ended with a raffle by NSHSS Partner Abercrombie & Fitch followed, in which Hollister & Co. gift cards were given away to event attendees.
