Priya Verma, of Chandigarh, India, senior NSHSS Student Council member, is the winner of the prestigious SBN International Youth Award 2012.

Priya, an honors student at Chitkara University, India/George Brown College, Toronto/ received this award in the "Under 20 International Youth Category" in partnership with Positive Impact Magazine, for environmental research and innovation.
Priya has innovated useful technologies of rainwater harvesting to increase water resources, highlighted in her project “Increasing Underground Water Resources," which has been recognized by the Government of India, the United Nations Environmental Programme, and other organizations worldwide. Priya’s techniques and ideas are universally applicable, globally novel, cost effective, eco-friendly, and utilitarian. Her project was displayed in the International Project Gallery-2007 and many countries are adopting this project.
