Student Council Member Priya Verma Receives SBN International Youth Award

Student Council Member Priya Verma Receives SBN International Youth AwardPriya Verma, of Chandigarh, India, senior NSHSS Student Council member, is the winner of the prestigious SBN International Youth Award 2012.

The School Broadcasting Network (SBN) empowers young people to communicate their ideas, innovations, and commitments for sharing culture and creating a sustainable and equitable future on a global stage. The SBN International and Indigenous Youth Awards honor the achievements of young people all over the world

Priya, an honors student at Chitkara University, India/George Brown College, Toronto/ received this award in the "Under 20 International Youth Category" in partnership with Positive Impact Magazine, for environmental research and innovation.

Priya has innovated useful technologies of rainwater harvesting to increase water resources, highlighted in her project “Increasing Underground Water Resources," which has been recognized by the Government of India, the United Nations Environmental Programme, and other organizations worldwide. Priya’s techniques and ideas are universally applicable, globally novel, cost effective, eco-friendly, and utilitarian. Her project was displayed in the International Project Gallery-2007 and many countries are adopting this project.
