We are delighted that NSHSS co-founder Claes Nobel, senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes, will deliver a keynote speech on the importance of international exchange programs in promoting peace and cultural understanding at the 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner for the International Services Council of Alabama (ISC). The event will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
The NSHSS community is invited to attend this special gathering. Tickets to the 50th Anniversary Gala Dinner are open to the public and are $30 for students and $50 for adults and can be purchased through the International Services Council of Alabama at http://iscalabama.org/iscs-50th-anniversary-march-5-2015/.
ISC’s mission is to promote international relationships through citizen diplomacy and enrich Alabama’s education, commerce and global awareness. This mission is supported by the core values of respect, friendships, collaboration, lifelong learning, multicultural diversity and globalization.
Citizen diplomacy is the concept that every global citizen has the right, even the responsibility, to engage across cultures and create shared understanding through meaningful person-to-person interactions and exchanges. Exchanges refers to the sharing of ideas, cultural traditions, and experiences. Citizen diplomacy creates economic opportunity, contributes to peace and stability, and develops leadership skills through global problem solving.
