The National Society of High School Scholars is pleased to continue its partnership with Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, which is providing NSHSS members with special discounts to attend the 2016 Summer Youth Assembly at the United Nations on August 10-12, 2016 in New York City. This opportunity is open to NSHSS members, ages 16 to 28.
The Annual Youth Assembly at the United Nations is a unique platform created by Friendship Ambassadors Foundation to foster dialogue and generate partnerships between exceptional youth, UN high officials and staff, the private sector and civil society, and academic institutions.
With more than 700 young delegates from around the world attending the event, participants will develop a deeper understanding of the various practices and perspectives in international development through meaningful exchanges.
NSHSS members can select many options for participating in the 2016 Summer Youth Assembly program:
1) The Youth Assembly at the United Nations Conference-only Option (August 10-12, 2016*) at a discounted rate of $125 per person.
Conference-only delegates will receive admittance to the 3-day Youth Assembly at the United Nations, as well as a keepsake lanyard and souvenir. *Check-in on August 9, 2016.
2) The Youth Assembly Delegate Package Options that offer additional Pre-YA and Post-YA events:
-Pre-YA: New Jersey - Social Ventures for Sustainable Development (SV4SD) Seminar:an intensive certificate-based mini-course on global youth-led development. Collaborate with group members to develop and propose a solution to a real-world issue through social innovation. The best proposal will be presented at the YA.
-Post-YA: Washington, DC - World Bank Visit: A once in a lifetime opportunity for attendees to engage in conversation with officers of the World Bank on today's global economic issues such as anti-corruption and the impact of climate change on the global economy. World Bank certificate will be awarded.

The Youth Assembly at the United Nations is excited to announce a new opportunity for those participating in the Premier and Academic packages. Delegates can receive personal advice and support from experienced young entrepreneurs who have developed their own successful social ventures.
Peer Mentorship Initiative
This new initiative aims to:
• Strengthen the participants’ understanding of social innovation and what makes a social venture successful
• Improve participants’ English language and presentation skills
• Enhance the quality of the participants’ group project or proposals
• Provide participants with equal opportunity for peer review of their projects or proposals
PEER MENTORS
Selected former YA attendees who have developed their own successful social ventures will offer their expertise to interested groups prior to and during the seminar. Learn more about our peer mentors here.
ELIGIBILITY
The peer mentorship is open to groups of 5-10 delegates registered for either
Premier/Academic package who will be working on the same group project or social venture
