The Intern Group is delighted to announce that this year’s scholarship winner is NSHSS member Alexa Rains from the University of Alabama. Alexa will be doing a 6-week internship within the NGO sector in Australia this summer. Congratulations Alexa!

Alexa looks forward to “growth in experience, growth in leadership, and growth in cultural awareness” during her internship with The Intern Group. An economics major, Alexa plans to pursue a career in policy research and implementation or sustainable development. She chose Melbourne, Australia, as her program destination because of “the location’s rich history in human rights and extensive opportunities for people passionate about change.” Alexa will not only intern with a non-governmental organization or a non-profit organization, but she also plans to add community service opportunities to the internship program in Melbourne. Alexa explains that “The Intern Group would now be using their resources to provide not only career opportunities, but also sustainable community improvement internationally.” Alexa is the community service chair for The National Society of Leadership and Success, an assistant team leader for The Center for Service and Leadership and she is the treasurer for Not On My Campus.
