Leadership Development with NSHSS

At a time when differences are tearing communities apart, young leaders, when given respect and support, have the power to advocate for equality and initiate change in their local community. NSHSS was founded on the desire to recognize young leaders and offer a lifetime network of opportunities for high-achievers to advance their leadership skills and potential.

To this end, NSHSS offers three different leadership opportunities for our members; the Ambassadors program for our high school members, the Student Council for our college members, and the Fellows program for our alumni members.

NSHSS Ambassadors

NSHSS Ambassadors are student leaders, with a 3.7 GPA or higher, within their high schools who exhibit academic excellence and strong commitment to community service. As role models, Ambassadors are encouraged to inspire their peers to explore new initiatives within their high schools and communities by organizing community service projects and gatherings with fellow members to support the vision of NSHSS. Ambassadors receive preference in participating in member events and also have the opportunity to compete for the $1,000 Ambassador Scholar Awards made available to our senior Ambassadors each Spring.

NSHSS Student Council

NSHSS Student Council members are outstanding college students from around the globe who give advice based on their own experiences and offer information on Society programs, scholarships, and activities throughout the upcoming year. Since the program was established in 2003, over 200 members have served in this leadership capacity.

NSHSS Fellows Program

With more than 400,000 lifetime NSHSS members who have graduated college, the NSHSS Fellows Program was established to connect these alumni members with significant resources and opportunities to further their academic and career goals. All NSHSS members graduating college with an undergraduate degree are automatically eligible for the NSHSS Fellows Program. Through the program, NSHSS aims to bridge the gap between the alumni network and current NSHSS members through networking events, NSHSS member events, and mentorship programs. Furthermore, the initiative aims to cultivate a thriving alumni network by bringing life-long scholars and professionals from different backgrounds together to further the mission of NSHSS.

Wherever our members are in their development – high school, college, graduate school, or professional career – NSHSS is continuing to grow resources to empower our members to advocate and initiate positive change in their community.
