As you are in the process of making decisions about which college you will attend, it is a great time to start thinking about studying abroad. It is estimated that only 1% of U.S. students study abroad while they are in college. Incorporating an international experience in your academic studies is not only personally advantageous, but a great way to set yourself apart from other college graduates. Students who have global experiences become more independent, motivated and confident in their abilities. Not to mention, stronger candidates for graduate school and future employment. Now is the time to start thinking about when you will study abroad.
Florida State has more than 50 programs in over 20 locations around the world. Students are able to take courses that count toward their liberal studies, major and/or minor requirements. While many students will choose to spend a fall, spring or summer semester studying abroad, you may even consider going for all three semesters! Florida State offers an exciting First Year Abroad program to highly-motivated and independent students. Imagine a city as your classroom, one-on-one interaction with faculty, and the opportunity for new cultural interactions! You could find yourself walking over the Ponte Vecchio on your way to class or practicing your Spanish at the market. There is a world of opportunity at your fingertips.
