The Equine Scholars Program at Georgetown College prepares its students for successful professional careers related to the horse industry through individualized internships, on-site observations, lectures, networking opportunities and more. Equine Scholars have opportunities to visit, intern, and/or volunteer at numerous locations and events in the Equine Capital of the world, the heart of Kentucky. Examples of such opportunities include: Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Alltech National Horse Show, equine veterinary and surgery centers, thoroughbred farms and feed manufacturers and research centers among others.
Some Equine Scholar Program highlights include:
Our Equine Scholars come from across the country to take part in this distinctive program and benefit from the incredible opportunities the program affords students.
“The primary reason I chose to come to Kentucky from Idaho was Georgetown College’s Equine Scholars Program. It taught me about all the equine industry has to offer and opened up many doors for me,” adds Georgetown College student Lexy Funk, 2013.
NSHSS students are encouraged to apply for the Equine Scholars Program. NSHSS students selected to become Equine Scholars earn a renewable $1,000/year add-on scholarship which stacks on top of the $17,500/year merit-based scholarship awarded to qualified NSHSS students who attend GC.
