To prepare Fisk University students for leadership and career success in an increasingly interconnected global economy, two Fisk University Trustees, with a founding gift of $ 10,000, and pledge to contribute an additional $30,000 over the next three years for a total of $ 40,000, are establishing the Fisk University Global Study Fund to encourage and provide financial support for matriculating Fisk University students to pursue studies at elite universities outside the United States, particularly The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) which has summer programs in London (UK) and China. In the summer of 2015, three Fisk University undergraduate student will study at LSE in the UK and three others will study at Peking University in Beijing China. The strategic intent of the founders and the fund is to inspire, motivate and raise the aspirations of talented Fisk students by enhancing their global education and perspectives, and be a catalyst for making preparation for global success a hallmark of a Fisk University education and its graduates. The impetus for the fund is recognition that in an increasingly globally competitive world, development of a global perspective, regardless of socio-economic background, has become a minimum imperative for sustained success by leaders in both the private and public sectors.
