Will you be attending Scholar’s Day in Washington D.C.? If so, we would love to meet you! While in the nation’s capital, be sure to stop by our table and see all the Florida State has to offer. In addition to exceptional faculty, academic programs and degree offerings, FSU is consistently ranked within the top 25 U.S. universities for the number of students who study abroad. With more than 50 programs in over 20 locations, study abroad is one of Florida State’s specialties.
This is your chance to get the inside scoop from Meghan Greene and Lauren Schoenberger, two study abroad gurus that contribute their skills and expertise to ensure student success on Florida State’s International Programs. Before you get the scoop from them, here’s the scoop on them.
Both are proud alumni of Florida State University. As an undergraduate, Lauren participated in Florida State’s study abroad program in London. After graduation, her study abroad experience inspired her to become a Program Assistant for two years at the FSU Study Centre in London. Since then, Lauren has lived around the world in Australia, Germany and Italy. She is now in the United States and holds a position at Florida State as the First Year Abroad (FYA) Program Coordinator. Interested in learning about our FYA program? Click here. Lauren always says, “There is no better way to kick-start your college career than to spend it in an extraordinary new place!”
Soon after completing her Masters in Higher Education, Meghan began her career in Student Affairs at Florida State. She then accepted her dream job working in International Programs. As the Director of Recruitment and Retention, her goal is to make sure that every student takes advantage of the opportunity before them to incorporate an international experience into their college career. Meghan has traveled to various locations in Central America, Europe and Asia and is always adding to her collection of passport stamps.
While Meghan and Lauren have different experiences outside of the U.S., they have the same view when it comes to studying abroad: it will change your perspective on both the world around you and of yourself. Lauren lives by the three C’s regarding international travel – courage, character and confidence. She says, “Once you study abroad, you feel like you can do anything.” Meghan couldn’t agree more. “The way you see yourself and the way you see the world will be impacted by an experience in another country and that change within you fuels everything else.”
