Luna Abadia

Luna Abadía is a trilingual, globally-minded climate activist and youth leader. She is dedicated to using her language skills, international experience, and focus on diversity and equity to make real change to address the climate crisis.

She is pursuing the International Baccalaureate Diploma and is in her 12th year of the Spanish Immersion Program. Luna spent a year abroad in Japan as a Rotary Youth Exchange Ambassador, where she presented an award-winning speech on climate change. Luna also works on Plan International USA's Youth Advisory Board, where she leads design for youth summits and assists Plan's climate policy strategy. Luna's most significant achievement is founding the Effective Climate Action Project, a youth-led organization advocating for systemic solutions to climate change through climate simulation workshops reaching hundreds worldwide. This October, Luna was selected to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY16) in Glasgow, Scotland as an official US Delegate and Workshop Facilitator. Following her Colombian heritage, Luna is a leader within MEChA and has published articles in Puño y Letra. Luna has been awarded the UN Gender Just Climate Solutions Award, the United States EPA Environmental Youth Award, International Young Eco-Hero Award, and Ashoka Changemakers Award.
