The National Society of High School Scholars

Partnerships

NSHSS proudly enjoys partnerships with educational organizations that provide valuable information, assistance, and programs to our members. NSHSS values partnerships as a means for connecting our members to the best resources and these partnerships represent an important part of our organization.

Boy Scouts of America

The National Society of High School Scholars signed a formal partnership agreement with the Boy Scouts of America on March 11th, 2004, at the BSA headquarters in Irving, Texas. This partnership aims to utilize the Venturing and Explorer programs of the BSA to provide additional benefits to both male and female NSHSS members in leadership development and career exploration. This partnership will also allow BSA leaders to nominate eligible students for membership in the NSHSS. Mr. Nobel said, "The National Society of High School Scholars is proud to partner with the Boy Scouts of America. There are many opportunities for the fine young men and women of NSHSS to get involved in exciting programs and career exploration through BSA Venturing and Explorers. The Boy Scout tradition of excellence and service is a wonderful fit for our mission of bringing the best students together from around the world."

Roy Williams, Chief Scout Executive (pictured here with Mr. Claes Nobel), says of the partnership, "The Boy Scouts of America has a long history of helping young men and women reach their fullest potential both inside and outside the classroom. We look forward to working with the National Society of High School Scholars to help the youth of our nation be the best they can be."

My College Guide (click for more info)

For over 15 years, My College Guide has been working with college-bound students across America.  The publication and website has insightful articles geared towards academically talented high school sophomores and juniors.  My College Guide is designed to assist students who are at the beginning of their search for the right college.   The publisher of My College Guide, Cynthia S. Klenke, says that "We are thrilled to have partnered with NSHSS, and we look forward to working together to provide college-choice information to their members."  The partnership also allows My College Guide to nominate eligible students for NSHSS membership.  NSHSS members may order FREE college information through My College Guide at www.mycollegeguide.org/request .

My College Guide is also partnered with the Talent Identification Program at Duke University (TIP), the Center for Talent Development at Northwestern University, the Rocky Mountain Talent Search at the University of Denver, and the International Center for Gifted Education at the University of Iowa.

People to People Student Ambassadors Program

The purpose of People to People International (PTPI) is to enhance international understanding and friendship through educational, cultural and humanitarian activities involving the exchange of ideas and experiences directly among peoples of different countries and diverse cultures. People to People International is dedicated to enhancing cross-cultural communication within each community, and across communities and nations. Tolerance and mutual understanding are central themes. While not a partisan or political institution, PTPI supports the basic values and goals of its founder, President Dwight D. Eisenhower.  People to People is funding a tuition scholarship for an NSHSS member to attend a Future Leaders Summit summer program.

On July 2, NSHSS Chair Claes Nobel and Mary Eisenhower, granddaughter of President Dwight Eisenhower and CEO of People to People, met with over 400 students participating in People to People programs in Gaston Hall at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Presidential Classroom (click for more info)

Many of our members have participated in and written to us about their experiences in Presidential Classroom.  The Washington D.C. program is often a turning point in a student’s life, offering exposure to Washington leaders, media, and students from all over the globe. With our partnership, NSHSS members are eligible for a $100 discount on Presidential Classroom programs, a program tuition scholarship competition for our members, and a college scholarship competition to members who have participated in the program.  NSHSS members must use this application in order to receive the tuition discount (the application is also available from Presidential Classroom):  Application

Projects Abroad (click for more info)

Projects Abroad offers volunteer opportunities in countries you may never expect to visit, where you can make a real difference right before your eyes.  Two of our members participating this summer will act as “foreign correspondents,” reporting their experiences in Russia and Nepal. Projects Abroad offers NSHSS members and their families a 10% discount on all programs, even beyond graduation from high school.
