WHAT WE DO?

We amplify the voices of Afghan women and girls through storytelling, leadership training, and global engagement. Our initiatives empower them to speak out, share their experiences, and inspire meaningful change toward justice and equal opportunity.

We empower Afghan girls to reclaim their voices through writing, storytelling, and the arts. Our programs provide platforms for creative expression as a powerful form of resistance and healing, helping them share their lived experiences with the world.

Through skill-based workshops focused on leadership, personal development, communication, and decision-making, we equip Afghan girls with the confidence and tools to lead their communities with strength and purpose.

Our graduates and members can access EmpowerHer's resources and engage with our vibrant community. We support them in creating impactful initiatives both within and outside Afghanistan through virtual and in-person programs.

Projects

Our projects are designed to meet Afghan girls where they are—and help them grow into who they’re meant to be. Each initiative provides a safe, inclusive space where participants gain the tools, guidance, and community they need to rise. From leadership workshops to storytelling programs, every project builds confidence, sharpens skills, and encourages bold self-expression. Together, we’re creating spaces where Afghan girls can learn, lead, and shape their own futures.

Leading with Resilience: My Journey as an Afghan Student and Advocate

In this powerful personal story, Mahdi Rahimi shares their journey from displacement to advocacy—proving that leadership isn’t about titles, but about resilience, purpose, and uplifting others. Learn key lessons on how to lead with impact, even in the most challenging times.

Building Windows Where They Built Walls

Growing up under the Taliban’s rule, Nahid Karimi lost her right to study, work, and live freely. Escaping Afghanistan didn’t erase the pain, but it fueled her mission to create change. Now a scholarship student in the U.S., she co-founded EmpowerHer to bring education and hope to Afghan girls.

The Power of Dreams: How Education and Art Empower Afghan Girls

Sabira Hussaini’s journey as an Afghan student and artist shows how challenges can be transformed into strength and hope. Through her art and EmpowerHer initiative, she empowers Afghan girls to dream boldly, believe in their own power, and pursue education and creativity as pathways to a brighter future.

Online Education and the Fight for a Future

Afghan girls are defying bans on education by turning to online learning, where a laptop or phone becomes a lifeline to their dreams. For them, studying in secret is an act of resistance and hope, proving that education is a right, not a privilege. Their determination shows the power of learning to inspire change for future generations.

Invincible Dreams

This story follows Faryal, a 14-year-old Afghan girl who dreamed of becoming a lawyer until girls’ education was banned in Afghanistan. Despite fear, loss, and uncertainty, she continues learning on her own and writing her truth, proving that even when their voices are silenced, Afghan girls’ dreams remain powerful and alive.
