Shaolin Truett
Shaolin is an innovative educator dedicated to creating inclusive, hands-on learning experiences for her students. She is the sponsor of her school’s Cosmetology Club, where she fosters creativity, skill-building, and confidence in young aspiring stylists. With the support of the NSHSS Educator Grant, Shaolin plans to enhance the club by improving the learning space with cosmetology-specific desks and chairs, and expanding materials to include foundations for diverse skin tones, hair styling equipment for all hair types, and additional tools to support student learning. Her work empowers students to explore their talents, develop practical skills, and express themselves through the art of cosmetology.
Clubs and extracurricular activities allow students to develop leadership skills and find ways to contribute meaningfully to their community. Club advisors and sponsors often support these clubs with their own funds or through fundraising activities. To support our outstanding educators and the clubs they oversee, NSHSS is giving two (2) high school educators a $500 grant to help provide additional opportunities to their student clubs.
