As we find ourselves in this new digital age, it’s important to understand how the new landscape might affect your future as a high school or college student. You may already be familiar with the more common uses of AI, such as ChatGPT, or Google’s Gemini, but that is only the beginning of this new future. For some, this might be an exciting time, while for others this can be a time of great uncertainty in the face of such a rapidly changing world. At NSHSS, we want to face any new changes head-on and prepare our students to do the same. So in this article, we want to look at some of the ways AI is changing your education, and how you can better adapt to the world around you.

AI in Schools

The first thing to consider when looking at how you might further utilize AI in your education, is to first understand how it’s already being used. For the past few years, several schools have begun to integrate AI into the way they educate their students. By using tools such as Khan Academy and Tutor AI, teachers can find a specific teaching style, designed to adapt to the way each of their students learn best. These tools have helped teachers acclimate to the world of AI by making it all about the success of the student.

Your Role in Your Education

Given where we stand with AI in schools already, that still leaves the question: what about you? Well, when it comes to your education and this ever-evolving landscape, there are several ways to utilize the benefits of AI in your education. The first is to dig deeper into some of the AI tools that are proven to help students grow in their education.

Platforms like Google Expeditions can create entire virtual tours of places you otherwise don’t have the time, money, or just general resources to visit in person. This can really boost your awareness of a certain location, and its culture. Magoosh is a tool used to create personalized test prep material, depending on what you might require to enhance your studying methods. There are even helpful tools like Dysolve that can identify reading and comprehension challenges for students overcoming dyslexia and other learning challenges.

These are just a few of the literally dozens of current platforms that are proven to enhance the safety, security, and sustainability of a student’s educational success. But that doesn’t mean you have to use all of these, or any of these.

What Comes After?

The integration of AI is changing our world drastically, and this includes the careers that once seemed tried and true. Nowadays, everything from teaching to nursing, music, film production, and manufacturing have all been impacted by AI. Part of why we have included the tools above is to help you understand that although it might be scary, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the AI tools now, before you step into your career path.

Most companies still need you and your specific talents to come on-board and help work with them, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t see AI in your job. Whether it’s using AI to sort through an inventory list, or using AI to help a secretary plan routes for traveling salesmen, the tools are out there and they’re not going away. It’s best to get a head start on their work, so that you can make them work for you, and perhaps even boost your productivity in your job.
